Local executive earns top healthcare management credential

Hollister, California [February 24, 2015] – Rosa Vivian Fernandez, MPH, FACHE, President & CEO San Benito Health Foundation recently became a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the nation’s leading professional society for healthcare leaders.
“Because healthcare management ultimately affects the people in our communities, it is critically important to have a standard of excellence promoted by a professional organization,” says Thomas C. Dolan, PhD, FACHE, CAE, president and chief executive officer of ACHE. “By becoming an ACHE Fellow and simultaneously earning board certification from ACHE, healthcare leaders can show that they are committed to providing high-quality service to their patients and community.”

Fellow status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development. In fact, only 9,100 healthcare executives hold this distinction. To obtain Fellow status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements, including passing a comprehensive examination, meeting academic and experiential criteria, earning continuing education credits and demonstrating professional/community involvement. Fellows are also committed to ongoing professional development and undergo recertification every three years.

“I feel privileged to join the few federally qualified health center executives to have achieved FACHE status, which signifies board certification in healthcare management and ACHE Fellow.  Throughout the process of meeting the requirements for this certification I have gained a great deal of knowledge and had an opportunity to reflect on how these changing times in health care will impact the service delivery for our community in the future. I have also gained a new and diverse network of healthcare leaders opening new partnerships as we all move ahead to improve our community and nation’s health. Being part of this network will enhance understanding of the role community health centers play in service delivery and how best to interphase with other sectors of the health community in a joint effort to achieve our mutual triple aim goal: Improved Access, Improved Quality and Improved Patient Experience”.
